- Headed concrete anchors are steel studs with an enlarged head that join steel members, with one end embedded in concrete. Transferring tension, shear, or combined loads, these weld studs provide mechanical anchorage to resist pull-out. During welding, stud diameters 1/2” and under will be approximately 1/8” shorter, while 5/8” stud diameters will be approximately 3/16” shorter.
- Shear connector studs are designed for composite steel-concrete construction, transferring horizontal shear at the interface so that the slab and beam can act together structurally. In process, shear connectors with stud diameters 3/4” to 7/8” will be approximately 3/16” shorter after direct welding, and 3/8” shorter when used for thru-deck applications. Stud diameters of 1” and larger will be about 1/4” shorter after welding.
Headed concrete anchors and shear connectors are both made from low-carbon steel materials, and are also available in weldable stainless steel. All orders for studs will include the required ferrules for welding. Please specify what type of ferrule is needed when placing your order.
